When he was two and a half he had constipation but no longer is as we went to the GP and he was put on lactulose, but he will not poo in the toilet.
We have tried charts, rewards and special toys and discussing with him why he doesnt want to poo on the toilet but none of it seems to help, also we bought books about going to the toilet, and reading 'poo goes to Pooland' and he understands why we poo on the toilet but still he doesn't do it.
He will happily sit on the toilet but wont poo on it and will have an accident every day in his pants at home or school. We have a plan made with help of school nurse at school where he has to sit on the toilet for 4 mins every hour and has a book to distract him and give him lots of praise each time he does this and we do this at home too. Has anyone had this problem and managed to help their child to finally be able to poo on the toilet? Am at a loss what to do next and am feeling like a failure.
