Only needs to go about four times a day so do I keep putting him on the potty?

Day 3 of PT and having mixed success. One problem is that DS is getting sick to the back teeth of me banging on about going on the potty and is becoming quite resistant to it!

He seems to wee/poo at quite set times from what I've noticed in the last two days, so do I give up asking him every 20mins and just focus on those times or do I keep putting him on all the time?

I think you have to leave him to ask you, I would cut back the asking to just saying every so often, 'now remember if you need to do poo/wee remember to tell Mummy'.

That coupled with a little treat bag every time he asked and did one in the potty worked a trick for me.

Thanks TH. This is what we tried yesterday with no success but will try again today.

I try and increase the number of times I'm asking him as it gets closer to when I think he needs to go but it's so hit and miss (mainly miss tbh!).

If it's any consolation we had the same for the first 3 - 4 days and then he seemed to click for a couple of days then backwards again for a day or so and then it was plain(ish) sailing the rest of the way....

I bloody hate PT!

we've just started (using the 'one day' method) and a great tip was to encourage them to drink tons to start with so you get they get more opportunity to practice using the potty

Thanks Cake, we did try that but he's quite resistant at the moment.

We've given up on the whole PT thing for the moment - too much stress .

Try again in the summer!
