Advice needed - DS won't use potty and toilet too far away.

DS, aged 2.5 seems ready to potty train. He tells me when he needs to be changed etc and had shown an interest in the potty, having sat it quite a few times.

I decided we might give things a proper go yesterday. I thought my DD's old potties might not be right for him because there doesn't seem to be sufficient room for his penis to point down so I bought a slightly different one.

Well yesterday and today he has not wanted to sit on the potties because they are either too high or too hard (I'm not 100% sure which he is saying). He is expressing a desire to use the toilet but to get there we have to go from the lounge, through the hall, kitchen, utility and into the downstairs loo. By then it's too late.

So I am unsure how to play it whilst he is unable to 'hold'.

Any advice anyone?

Wait a few more months.

Invest in a two step stool from IKEA and a seat insert - then he can climb up and sit with confidence and balance a book on the top step to read while he sits.
