Is your child ready for potty training at nursery? Here's the place for all your toilet training questions.

I'm starting EC with a 10 month old.

Any tips/advice. My Mother used this technique with me (but it didn't have a name then and my Mother is not English). Why do people generally leave potty training untill children are two? When I have mentioned this to a friend she looked as me though I was mad! Anyway I have decided to follow my Mother's advice as I was trained by the age of two. I started today. My baby did a poo and wee whilst I held her over the potty! I gave her lots of praise. Any tips? Thanks

two nappies is great going! We've been through loads over the part couple of days as ds has just cut his first tooth and so had a terrible bum the poor wee mite. Just when we'd got over the starting solids poo change! Hey ho, i'm confident that it'll all come right again. Smile

We do sign and make a cue noise as well as explaining what we're doing so hopefully he'll use one of these in time. He grumps if he needs to go but by the time we figure out it's for a wee we sometimes miss, so something a little more specific would be great! Grin

Timing is a great way to go about it though, so good on you. Eventually they realise they'll be offered a potty soon and will hold on for a while (at least that's the theory Wink. We find it much easier at home, esp if i'm not really busy. Barely bother out and about unless we use one of those changing rooms that has a loo...should be the law that they do imo!
Were your consecutive catches in the morning or afternoon? Ds wee's alot more in the morning, no doubt due to all those night bfs Hmm

Just realised that in my pp it says son where i ment to say poo! Bloomin phone!

I guessed that was what the 'son' meant! :)

I had one consecutive catch in the morning & one in the afternoon. I think he does go more in the morning, as we had 2 catches and 2 misses in the 2.5 hours between getting up and first nap yesterday. He usually only feeds once a night which is nice, although it's more at the minute due to the 9 month sleep regression. Hmm Only feeding once a night doesn't stop the rest of the wakings though. Wink

Do you do a different sign for wee/poo? I'm signing for potty and doing a different cue for each, but wasn't sure about whether to do signs for them, or just do 'potty'.

DS had terrible nappy rash with his first two teeth but hasn't had particular problems with the subsequent ones (and he now has nearly 8 teeth).
