C section infection

I’ve been to the hospital twice now about this c section infection - I was cut open two weeks ago they put me on fluclox while swabs came back but lost the swabs so had to go back then went to triage to have the antibiotics changed to co amox and swabs are back but no update if this should clear infection (i have asked…) they advised me to redress the wound which I’ve done but since washing it yesterday it’s really itchy under the new dressing today… no smell as of yet I previously has redness oozing and a smell. But it started with an itch last time before becoming massively infected - does this look like an improvement? I’m so exhausted with going back and forth and the worry this won’t get better.

Kindly, it's not too bad. Try a bit of savlon and dress it. If it's bad Monday, contact your GP.

I had yellow gunk pouring out of mine, literally like custard. That was badly infected.

They’ve made me dress it again with another surgical plaster while I slept overnight - it’s really itchy this morning under there and I dunno if it’s healing or the infections returned🥲 what antibiotics where you on to clear yours? Did you end up having IV? And I had like sloughing, smelt like a rotten animal🤦‍♀️

My friend was a midwife several years ago and I was under the impression they would be keeping an eye on section scars/stitches these days. However I do remember mine over a decade ago and the chaos of the NHS then meant I didn't have the same midwife each visit, so assume you have fallen through the cracks. Keep advocating for yourself and see if anyone can come and check you over regularly for a few weeks or find out who you can send pictures to to give it a look over if they can't come out.

Unfortunately 1 in 3 women have a bad experience with childbirth and it is one of the leading causes of trauma and health anxiety no woman is warned about before it happens. Learning to advocate for yourself and trusting your instincts with your health and your child's will be pivotal as you grow as a parent. It can be a fine line between feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious and un-empowered at times, but it is unfortunately part of being a mum in UK. Stay calm when you talk to HCP, if you can get your partner to do it for you as they often get help faster and are dismissed less.

I was on antibiotics for 5 months, 4 different types.

Don't scratch it, itch can be healing skin.

Dress with savlon and leave it for 24 hours.
