Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar and whether this sounds like a normal part of recovery/hormonal changes.
I had my second baby 14 weeks ago by emergency C-section. I stopped breastfeeding at around 6 weeks and had my first period about 3–4 weeks ago.
Everything seemed to be recovering pretty well after the C-section, but around the time my period returned I started feeling sore again. I initially put it down to hormones, but just before my period arrived I also started getting this really horrible nausea, almost like pregnancy sickness, and nothing seemed to help it.
The main thing I’m struggling to describe is the feeling in my tummy. When I lie on my back it hurts/feels really uncomfortable, but it’s hard to describe exactly what the pain is like because it’s such an odd sensation. It feels a bit like period pain, but spread across my whole abdomen, and I also feel it just below my ribs. There’s almost a sensation that everything is caving in or feels heavy/weighted down onto my tummy, to the point where I can’t comfortably lie on my back.
My tummy also feels quite wobbly/soft in places, but I’ve noticed a few little harder bits that I don’t remember noticing before pregnancy. I’m wondering if this could simply be where everything has shifted/stretching etc after pregnancy, but obviously I’m now worrying about whether there’s something else going on. The actual C-section incision looks completely fine.
Last time, I felt almost constantly bruised/sore for around 7 days leading up to my period, and I’m due on again soon. I’m starting to get the same nausea and dizziness again, so I’m wondering if it’s somehow cycle/hormone related.
Has anyone else had anything like this after a C-section, particularly once their periods returned? Did things settle down after a few cycles, or did you eventually find there was another cause?
I know nobody can diagnose me on here and I’ll get checked if necessary, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s experienced something similar as I’m finding it quite worrying and uncomfortable. Thank you!
