Toilet issues months after C-section

Hi all,

Reposting this here as I didn't get any replies where I initially put it, i actually didn't realise this topic was here.

I have name changed for this because it's a bit embarrassing, just wanted to see if anyone has experienced similar?

I had an emergency C-section in June and ever since I have struggled a bit to use the loo (for poos). Basically, I will feel that I need to go, but when I actually try I don't seem to be able to bear down to push it out. I usually end up giving up and basically trying again when I've eaten more later in the day, so i suppose it's naturally getting pushed down by the new food?? I always manage to go that same day so I'm not massively concerned, but it's just not something I have struggled with before, even after my previous natural birth.

What made me think to finally ask is that last week I used my menstrual cup for the first time since I got pregnant last year and when it came to taking it out to empty I tried to bear down to push it down a bit (for easier removal) and it just didn't move, so I think it's the same issue.

Is it a pelvic floor thing? Is it a core strength thing? What has happened to me?!

As I said, I have never experienced this before, not even after my first birth, which was natural so theoretically my pelvic floor should have been more damaged?!!

Grateful for any insight here

I asked your GP for referral for pelvic physio. I does sound like a pelvic floor issue, but I'm no expert.
In the short term, I'd use a squatty potty, or anything to rise your feet on the loo. It makes a massive difference. Obviously fluids, diet and exercise help too. Also look up pelvic floor exercises online and start doing those.
