Struggling with weight loss and eating regularly after having my baby

I am a solo mumma (by choice) and my LO is truly amazing, everything i could've wished for and more. But I am worried about my own health, I have struggled with low weight for many years and since having my LO I have lost around 2 stone (in 4 months) some may say thats great but for me it isnt as I am now lower than my pre-pregnancy weight. I just cant seem to find the time to eat until dinner i know that probably sounds ridiculous to some but its genuinely like I have baby to care for, house to sort out, shopping to go get, 2 dogs to care for etc and by the time I sit down its 4pm and I just think why not wait for 5pm to then have my dinner. I dont really know what I wanted from this post because as im typing it I just sound stupid but yeah its been weighing on my mind so there is it.

What about getting some high density milk shakes? You can buy them from the chemist. Even just a regular milkshake with full fat milk and maybe protein powder would help. Drinking your calories may be an easy option for you if your time poor.

Is there anything you could meal prep like a batch of overnight oats? I make enough for 4 days so just have to grab one in the morning.

How low is your weight? Have you struggled with weight gain before baby?

notmeaningtoberudebut · 15/09/2026 01:25

When I say stuggling I mean. Do you struggle even when eating normally? or is it due to low appetite etc

When you're struggling for time that's when I like really easy meals. Cereal & milk for breakfast. Pre-sliced bread buns, pre-sliced cheese/sandwich filler, packet of crisps and a yoghurt. Literally so low effort and very little clean up :) your evening meal can be the nutritious one!

I think I’d get shakes, and maybe some pre-made smoothies, quite a lot of calories and at least some nutrition.
do you have any time in the evenings to yourself? Could you spend some time one night a week prepping a few bits to grab as snacks? For example just washing and cutting some fruit so it’s easy to grab and go, or boiling and peeling some eggs, or a pasta salad.
or could you pick up some wholemeal pita (and carrot batons?) and some humus or make a Greek yog dip. Theres some fiber and protein then, it takes 3 seconds to prepare and little to no clean up. Maybe think about your schedule and when would be a good time to eat and try to stick to it. I struggled to find time for lunch for a while, and I started eating it at 11.30, which tbh wasn’t ideal, but I got used to it and it meant I ate something nutritious rather than not eating at all or grabbing some biscuits later because I was so hungry (which was an issue for me but obviously isn’t for you)
I know you want to eat healthily but if you are actually very underweight, having some crisps or biscuits or cereal bars or protein bars to eat may be better than not eating at all
