Positive recovery stories after 3B degree tear? 4 weeks postpartum.

Hi there,

I am 4 weeks postpartum, I had a 3B degree tear.
The midwives who have checked my wound initially all said I was stitched up really well.
I am still sore at times (kind of like if you haven’t put a tampon in correctly) but I had it that I would be in for a terrible time…..going to the loo isn’t the best still and I’m still taking laxatives to help.

Any positive stories after a 3rd degree tear? I feel it’s too good to be true or maybe my expectations were so bad that it’s better than I was thinking.

Thank you for reading ☺️

Hi OP.

I'm really sorry that you had this situation.

I had a 3a year, so not quite the same. I did have a few episodes of faecal incontinence and got referred for an ultrasound (I can think of better ways to spend a Wednesday afternoon) and this confirmed the year as I was originally diagnosed with a 2nd degree.

I had a repair done and it really did feel too tight afterwards. This eased when I had baby 2 two years later and I'm OK now.

I would say, don't let them fob you off and get referred to a colorectal surgeon if you can. They are the experts.

Again, that's rubbish. Wishing you a quick recovery.
