Random long period 7 months postpartum

Hello,

I gave birth to DD2 a little over 7 months ago via c section. My periods returned at 4 months (despite EBF…grr) and have been regular ish (longer cycles than pre baby but nothing crazy irregular), heavier, but typically heavy for 1-2 days then done (which I preferred tbh as it got it out of the way !).

however this month, I’m currently on day 6 of heavy bright red bleeding.

ill call the GP on Monday, but thought I’d post on here in the meantime and see if anyone else has experienced similar ?

Yes I have! With DC1 I had periods that lasted 10 days (usually about 5 days long, with a couple of heavier days at the start). I’m now 4.5 months postpartum - I have had one period and am now on day 40 of my cycle. I am EBF, and I did with DC1 too. They’re otherwise like clockwork and bang on 30 days.

My doctor said that it’s normal whilst feeding. I’d just keep a log and speak to them if you’re concerned. Hopefully they settle down soon.

I had this too with first period after second baby, also section. I ended up in gynaecology and they gave me tranexamic acid and advised I use the mirena coil, which I did too, and never looked back - that was my last period 13 years ago!

I spoke to a dr and ended up in A&E all of yesterday (they were worried about me feeling breathless), and now am in the process of being referred to a gynaecologist.
currently on day 8 of bright red bleeding 😫
