Sorry if images are TMI.

I have increased pain slightly so asked husband to take picture of scar so I could have a look.

one side looks completely different to the other is the one side looking infected and open? or is this normal healing?

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It looks normal, it's not red and angry it just looks like it's healing

When did you have your c section? I’d say it looks like it’s healing well. You have maybe just over done it and that’s why you are having a bit of pain x

Can't really tell too much too from the pics - can you call your GP and send them pics, or ask your health visitor or any midwife support to take a look? I got a slight infection on my c section scar - was a slight pinkness around part of the scar - had to go to ooh gp and get antibiotics and that cleared it up.

And congratulations on your baby x

@Stardust286 thank you was just wondering why the scar on left side is nothing like the other side.

@Pregnantwithbabe3 i am 3 weeks post c section tomorrow. Maybe I am definitely feeling an increase in pain but like say I could have done too much.

@Topbird29 thank you. I’m going to keep a close eye and call the gp if it gets redder or I have any other symptoms.

Call your GP surgery and ask to see the wound dressing nurse. I can’t tell from the photo, but if you have increased pain and it’s hot to the touch, it might need dressing with something like inodine dressings. They’ll be best placed to assess as they’re seeing surgical sites constantly

Get it checked out, to put your mind at rest. Mine was definitely not equal all along and healed differently in different areas. Take it easy for a couple of days, it's a lot of layers of healing and you're post partum, be gentle with yourself x

I got an infection and the pain was unbearable. Don’t sit there in pain. Go and see a doctor (I ended up back at the labour ward)!

EJJxx · 06/02/2026 10:32

Thanks all. Yes I agree it needs looking at. Have a gp appointment at 3.50pm. Just seeing horror stories about needing IV antibiotics and countless rounds of antibiotics not working.

Definitely good to get it checked. I found the inodine dressings worked really well. I had two lots of antibiotics also, but it was the inodine dressings that healed it properly once I started on them. Ask for spares if they’ll give you them - very difficult to buy. I have them now for any deep wounds, they’re brilliant

update

i do have an infection and am now on 2 types of antibiotics. I stated to feel really unwell just before my appointment and now I’m in bed I have shivers and ache like I have the flu. Hoping the antibiotics kick in fast
