Is this normal? I had a baby nearly 12 weeks ago got second degree tear and episiotomy, I didn’t think I was healing right so I got checked by a gp 2 weeks ago. He said it all looks like it healing ok although my scar is still very tender and red. He also said I had some granulation tissue but when he was pressing it it wasn’t causing me any pain. I have also not had any unusual discharge he said it’s just taking my body longer to heal.
Anyways I thought the pain was getting better and healing then just now I’ve been to the toilet and there is bright red blood on the tissue from my scar, not a lot but still something. We tried to DTD last night although wasn’t successful and I stoped before any major pain I also haven’t had any bleeding and this was 24 hours ago nearly.
Is this normal or should I contact gp again

Not normal in my experience - could you contact the midwives/post natal unit and ask them to see you? They have more experience with this than a GP

@Witsendmum2 i got discharged from my midwife at 4 weeks pp. there’s only my HV I could contact but would they know or do they just do baby? The bleeding stopped it was only like dots of bright red blood when I wiped one time (blood was from scar not inside)

This is not normal, you should contact a gynaecologist not a GP or get a referral from a GP, as a specialist will have more direct experience and be able to guide you better.

Hello, I’m having the exact same issue and I’m actually 19 weeks postpartum. I first noticed it at 6 weeks but the maternity assessment unit said I was mistaken. Have you got anywhere with your GP? I’m not sure who would help in this situation

@Lifelifelife21 hey I went back to the gp because I was still having a bit of pain sex is basically a no go and had the on and off bleeding randomly (haven’t had any for a few weeks tho) last week saw a female gp and she had a look and said I’ve a 1/2 cm hole in my scar, it’s not infected though but she’s referred me to a gynaecologist only problem is the wait list is months x
