C section wound reopened

I’m 22 days post c section and yesterday I noticed my wound slightly opened. I went to the nurse who cleaned and dressed it and she said she didn’t think it was infected, she gave me one more dressing and told me to come back on Monday. Should I be changing this every day before Monday to keep it clean and check for infection? I didn’t think to ask at the time, I know I have to change it if it’s wet but it hasn’t got wet yet

Any doubts or worries - call your health visitor or GP. Wound care is not to be trifled with, even 111 can give advice and sign post :)
Mine had some issues sealing, I just had 1 stubborn centimeter that took forever to close. I ended up have iodine patches with a dressing over to dry them out. Best of luck (and congrats!!)

Congratulations on your LO @cakefairy7

How are you getting on with the wound now?

cakefairy7 · 18/01/2026 09:56

Thank you 🥰 it’s just getting worse! So it’s been 11 days since I noticed it open and it took 6 days for the swab to come back saying it was positive and I needed antibiotics. The nurse is currently changing the dressing for me and cleaning it every two days but on the last change she said it’s still infected and has actually opened more. She’s now put charcoal under the dressing and I’m finishing the antibiotics now this morning so I’m really hoping to see an improvement tomorrow. It’s just so draining at this point I thought 4 1/2 weeks pp I’d be almost back to myself like before but this just feels like I’m going backwards

What time do you finish the antibiotics? If it still looks infected, I’d be tempted to call 111 Flowers

They finished this morning about 5 hours ago but I can’t see it at all, it’s been dressed now for ten days and I’ve been told not to touch it myself to avoid it getting worse. If it’s still as bad or worse tomorrow when they change it I’m going to see who else could look at it because it’s 2 different nurses I’m seeing through the week and they don’t seem too on the ball with it and I really don’t want this getting any worse or lingering longer than it has to
