Hi, so I had my gorveous daughter 6 months ago. I got the implant (nexplanon) put in about 4 weeks after having her. I know it can cause irregular bleeding, as I have had this implant in the past but didn't suffer with bleeding for years. I only ever suffered when I first had it put in when I was a teen. However, for the first 4 months of habinf this one I have been fine, but the last 4 weeks I have bled non stop. Has this ever happened to anyone else ? I am also due to go on holiday next week so wondering if there is anything I can do to try and stop it or of a doctor can persxribe something to help it go lighter or stop it all together. Any advice welcome ☺️

I had this problem when I first had the implant and my doctor prescribed the pill to stop the bleeding. Not ideal as I had come off the pill to try the implant but might be worth it for a short term fix!

Is the bleeding heavy or light?
Theres norethisterone to temporarily stop the bleeding. I have been prescribed this from the GP before but you can order it over the counter at Boots or Superdrug. I would get medical advice beforehand though as they’ve became stricter on who can get this. There’s also something called Tranexamic acid for heavier bleeding, I have been prescribed that as I haven’t stopped bleeding on the coil since having it fitted after birth nearly 5 months ago. Also had it before for heavy periods.

I bled non stop for 3 months then had 3 months ish of nothing then back to 3-4 months of bleeding for the entire time it was in. I had to go on the pill at the same time as the implant to stop it.

I had this and bled for pretty much the whole 6 months-ish I had it, so then I had it taken out. I used to joke that that's how it works as a contraceptive - you bleed constantly, so you can't have sex 😅 now I have the mini pill. Much better.

I bled constantly through the 2 years I had it in.
