C section infection

I think I might have an infection in my C-section scar. I am 5 weeks pp.

last week, a stitch was pushed out of this area, and was fine. Noticed it was a bit tender this afternoon and a small amount of pus. It’s not smelly and I do not have a temperature. I rang the GP straight away and the receptionist advised that I call tomorrow morning for an appointment, as they won’t give antibiotics without seeing me.

is there anyone else I can call in the meantime? Bit nervous about leaving it.

Clean it with cooled boiled water. Do you have an overhang or is the scar open to the air? Either way, you need to make sure it is dry, a sanitary towel face down on it will work well and not leave fluff. If you have on overhang, lay down and hold it up to air ut and keep it dry.

All you can do is keep it clean and as dry as possible. Paracetamol for the pain and fever. Don't poke it around too much and then see the doctor in the morning. My first one got infected, cleared ip by antibiotics really quickly after that.

Thanks @Farcry66 ! I ended up going to maternity triage, as it is notoriously difficult to get appointments in the morning through the GP. Gave me a weeks worth of coamoxiclav. Gave me some reassurance as they said the rest of the scar looks good, were confident it would heal on its own but gave antibiotics as a precaution!
