C Section - 4 weeks after concerns?

Hello,

I am 4 weeks to the day since I had a c section. My wound has slightly opened so its currently got a fresh bandage on it but I am finding that I still have pain on my stomach itself?

It almost feels like sunburn and I cant work out if its internal or external. Did anyone else have this? anything I can do to help it?

I also had a bad reaction to the initial bandage, anyone else have this?

Other than this I feel great and am back to daily life of slow dog walks etc

Hi! I had a section and didnt experience any of this. Your health visitor or GP will be best placed to have a look x

I had a general feeling of bruising, with no visible bruises, all over my skin all round that area as well as deeper. It wasn't really painful but I could feel it.

The sunburny feeling may be to do with the bandage reaction? But anything feeling warm I would definitely get checked out.

I had this, it was an infection, please go to your nearest urgent care or call 111

Yeah it's definitely a kind of bruising feeling - it isnt necessarily warm like a sun burn its just that same prickly feeling if that makes any sense

My nurse is aware it is slightly infected as she has given me bandages and iodine strips, just wondered about the belly bruising feeling

I left it too long when mine felt like that, it got really badly infected and they tried to re-admit me, I ended up on antibiotics and the district nurse visiting daily to clean and redress it for a week.

I haven’t had a C-section but have had a wound infection after a burst appendix, if the wound is feeling prickly and burning you need to see someone as soon as possible. I left this far longer than I should have and now have quite a large hernia sorry for tmi

I was black & blue after my emcs, my lower stomach & into my groin was heavily bruised even though ds was only 6lb 4oz. The itchy feeling could be the nerves healing, lots of small nerves will have been cut & or moved around during the operation & need time to heal. The bruised feeling could be where they separate the muscles to reach the womb, I could see in the reflection of the big theatre light as they started the section & it looked like they just prised the vertical muscles apart with their hands before clamping them open. 4 weeks is only a short time for recovery, it took me a good 3 months before I felt completely healed. Keep an eye on your scar, have baths with plain water & a good handful of salt to aid healing, let the wound air dry before putting on a clean dressing, see a nurse or doctor if you feel you have signs of infection.
