First period

Is it normal for your first period back to be heavy?
I was 8 weeks pp on Wednesday and started what I assume is my period. I'm now on day 4 and it is still heavy.
I had an emergency C-section and to be honest, didn't have much bleeding at all after the birth. This is way heavier.

I would be concerned that there was something retained, if you didn't have much postpartum bleeding. Any other symptoms? Are you breastfeeding?

I've heard lots of women say that their first pp period was very heavy so it could be normal too. I just got mine a couple of days ago at 8 months pp and it's been quite light and pain free.

No, I'm not breastfeeding & no other symptoms.
Surely with a C-section they would make sure they get all of the placenta when removing it?
I think I will go and see a doctor just incase though.

Yes it can be a lot heavier. Mine were for several months.

I’m BF and didn’t have a section, but my first period (6m pp) was my normal which is light and short, then missed one at 7m pp and 8m pp was awful, long and so heavy. I’ve heard they can be all over the place for a while tbh! My friend had a c/section, no bleeding and then her first period was like a haemorrhage (she did get checked and no issues)

Yes, I had very little bleeding after my section too!
