Sex 6 weeks PP, not the same

We had sex last night as I’d finally stopped bleeding as I was so looking forward to it. But my vagina felt huge! I’d have expected this is we’d had sex after 2 weeks but thought it might be nearly normal by now. I had a grade 2 tear after a very quick birth. Is there any hope of it going tighter or is this it now?

You're only 6 weeks postpartum. There is still a lot of healing to be done.

DustyLee123 · 26/05/2025 07:14

It will get better, but don’t forget to do your pelvic floors every day.

fairgame84 · 26/05/2025 07:16

It's only been 6 weeks. It will feel better as time goes on. Make sure you are regularly doing pelvic floor exercises.
I've had 2 vaginal births and I remember that feeling of omg my fanny is like a canyon but it just takes time.

mine felt like a bucket after my second that I had to ask my husband “how was it for you?” 🤣 pelvic floors and time. I had a bit of a lack of sensation and it was taking me about an hour to finish. I’m fine now, baby is 10 months and I’m still BF (which means still producing relaxin).

the NHS Squeezy app is good.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 26/05/2025 07:21

You took 9 months to grow a baby, give yourself 9 months to recover.
It's not going to be THE SAME ever again but given time it will be practically the same. But 6 weeks is so soon!

IShouldNotCoco · 26/05/2025 07:23

Don’t worry, it does get better in my experience. And I’ve had 4 vaginal deliveries.

Barbiewhirl · 26/05/2025 07:27

Its only been 6 weeks, a grade 2 means muscle was torn as well as skin in addition to your body readjusting after birth. I agree with others, do your pelvic floor exercises too!

This is how mine felt! My husband said how was it… I said well it didn’t hurt but it’s different… he agreed I’ll have to question him properly today…

Edited

OP said she would expect it to be like that if it was 2 weeks but not 6 weeks. I think she did wait 6 weeks. Thats how I read it anyway?

LoafofSellotape · 26/05/2025 13:20

Oh yes, so she did.

A wise midwife once told me it takes 9 months to grow a baby and 9 months for your body to heal…. Give yourself time!

VioIetMoon · 07/06/2025 22:17

It's really hard to say. It's still very early. Most heal normally and some csn experience laxity. I'm 11 months pp and have never felt the same. I also had tear but mine were suction and forceps which I suspect may be the reason as my baby was only 6lbs so not a big baby. Its tighter than it wss but it took a good 6 or 7 months but its Just not like it wss. Everything feels different.
I had physio and the best advice they could offer was do your kegels
