Shingles with newborn

I gave birth to DS a week ago, on day 4 pp I developed shingles. Feeling very sorry for myself. Trying to enjoy my newborn bubble but in increasing amounts of pain. And finding breastfeeding around my c section scar and rash- which fortunately is on my stomach, so although now skin to skin is off the table I am able to breast feed- challenging and painful.
I guess I’m wondering if anyone else lived through this and had any advice? I’m so anxious DS will catch chicken pox which would be dangerous at such a young age… but what can I do, I can’t isolate from him and I’ve been reassured as long as I keep rash away from him he should be fine. Plus will benefit from breast milk antibodies. I also have a 2 year old, so hoping they also manage to escape catching cp!
I am reading online shingles pain can last weeks/ months. What have people’s experiences been? And does anyone have any tips to easing the pain. I started anti virals within 72 hours so hopefully that will help.
I guess I’m just looking for any words of wisdom that might help me out or cheer me up x

As long as they don’t come to contact with the fluid from the blisters (skin contact, sharing towels/bedding) they can avoid it.
It usually lasts longer in older people and people with weakened immune systems, with you being young & quickly having antivirals it, hopefully (!), will be quite short lasting for you. 🤞🏻
Congratulations on your new arrival! I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Hey
gosh sounds awful! Could you consider pumping for some feeds to give yourself a break?
