Hi, posting as a bit worried ruptured my internal c section stitches. Had op 4 weeks ago and everything was healing really well, but a couple of days ago I noticed a sharp pain in a localised point near the incision, when I move or use muscles on that side in any way. It’s extremely painful when coughing (I’m recovering from flu).i can’t remember anything that triggered it. Has anyone had this / problems with internal stitches at this point a few weeks after the op ? What would a doctor look for aside from fever? Don’t have a fever but pain is pretty bad today :-( it’s Xmas day so don’t fancy a trip to a&e right now…

Are you still taking painkillers? I had a bad cold about 4 weeks after my section and I ended up taking ibuprofen again because I had muscle pain around the stitches! Also found a hot water bottle helped. I’m not sure what they could actually do if you popped a stitch internally…better just rest and take it easy for a bit until the pain goes.

Hey OP, any updates?

It was fine after about a week of taking it very easy and moving carefully ! I realised after doing a bit of reading that the uterus (which is what people worry about with stitch rupture) shrinks very quickly after childbirth, and at that point the pain was in my abdomen which definitely could no longer be the uterus. So it must have just been some other post surgery pain. Hope that helps anyone reading this!

It’s good to know the pain didn’t last too long!
I lifted something too heavy 4 weeks PP and now I have pain in my abdomen and sides. The pain feels like I’ve regressed now in terms of healing.

The GP has referred to me an ultra sound but I’m worried I’ve done some damage internally or hopefully I’ve just pulled a muscle. It’s been a few days since the heavy lifting but I cannot take it easy :(
