Blocked duct for over 2 months?!

Hi everyone

I had my DD2 at the start of August, and have been exclusively breastfeeding.

I had mastitis a few times when feeding DD1, so noticed immediately when I was showing all the symptoms 3 week’s postpartum - fever, red patch on breast, a large golf balled sized lump that moves. I was on a course of antibiotics and that cleared the infection, however the lump has remained.

I went to my GP about a month ago, who agreed it was probably a blocked duct and referred me to the breast clinic.

Im pretty sure the lump has gotten smaller, but I’m now doubting myself. When I was pumping this morning I barely got any milk out of the right breast, with the lump as opposed to 4oz from the left.

Has anyone ever experienced a blocked duct for this long? Im starting to feel really anxious that it’s something more sinister.

thanks

Hi lovely

i had a blocked duct on and off for a while. It would come and go. Do you massage the lump as you pump/feed? X

I’m in a similar position. Had my 2nd baby in August and I’m EBF. I had a painful boob for a couple of days and thought it was a blocked duct. The pain went but then I found a lump. Saw my gp who referred me to the breast clinic, I was terrified for days waiting for this appointment. I had an ultrasound and was told it’s a milk filled cyst. If the lump doesn’t go in the next 6-8 weeks I have to get it drained plus a biopsy. This was only last week and the lump seems to be getting bigger not smaller 😞. Blocked duct started about 4 weeks ago for me.
