Postnatal depression

Does this sound like postnatal depression, I have low patience, am ragey, find myself shouting more than I have done, I cry easily, no libido, general feeling of flat and tired.
I don’t know whether it’s the lack of sleep or if I am in trouble with pnd.
Please no judgement I feel like a terrible mother and am so guilt ridden 😣

No one will judge you.

I doubt the lack of sleeping is helping, but the fact you've said you're feeling like a terrible mother says PND to me.

That's exactly how I felt when I had it. I wouldn't let myself call the doctor or take any antidepressants for months because my brain was bullying me.

I had my own thread on here many, many years ago. I was firmly and kindly told I needed to speak to my GP. So I'm telling you now firmly and kindly that you must speak to the receptionist today and say you need help.

Please don't beat yourself up any more. You're a good mum and you're doing your best. It's just bloody hard looking after a baby.

Hi OP, I’m sorry you’re struggling. Can I ask how old is your baby? It is normal to feel sad, overwhelmed, stressed, a bit snappy, exhausted etc when you have a new baby, most women feel like this in the first few weeks especially and it’s called the baby blues (I did!). If that’s all it is then usually it passes by the time your baby is a couple of weeks old.

If your baby is 1 month old+ and you still feel like this, and it is impacting you daily, it does sound like it could be PND and I’d really recommend reaching out to your health visitor and your GP, as well as any support you may have family wise. There’s plenty of support out there and you will come out the other side of it OP. You are doing your best! X
