Postpartum migraines

Hi all,

im nearly 1 week partum.

I had a very long and very traumatic labour resulting in forceps, 3c tear, general anesthetic and a post partum haemorrhage. i was in hospital for four days.

during one of these days I experienced awful visual disturbances followed by a splitting headache on one side. The midwife’s examined me, and said I was having an aura migraine.

this happened again yesterday and today. I phoned MAU yesterday, I gave them my blood pressure readings as I have a machine and all was fine. No worries about preeclampsia. They said it definitely sounds like an aura migraine and to go easy on myself.

wondered if anyone else has had this before? That’s two days in a row I’ve had one of these episodes. I’m barely sleeping because obviously I’ve got a new born and I’m just not sure if I’m totally exhausted.

I got this during pregnancy and a couple of times PP. the first time I got it, it was so scary as my vision in one eye went blurry and zig zaggy. It passed after about 15 mins and then the headache came afterwards. I mentioned it to the consultant during pregnancy and the GP at my 6 week check after having baby and they said it was hormonal. My blood pressure was okay during the episodes. Not pleasant.
