Heavy postpartum periods

My little boy is now 12 months old and I am still plagued by extremely heavy periods. The upside is that they no longer hurt which is strange, I used to have such painful periods before I was pregnant, but now the volume of blood is just crazy!! Has anyone had anything similar and did going back on the pill regulate things? Considering doing this if it does..

Postpartum hypothyroidism affects up to 10% of women. That can cause heavy periods, probably worth a GP chat to rules things out and check ferritin levels.
