Postpartum bleeding stopped and re-started 7 weeks PP

Hi, hoping someone can help as I don’t have my GP check for another week.
My PP bleeding had stopped by 4 weeks postpartum, I then had just a little bit of occasional spotting and darkish discharge but nothing for a good couple of weeks. I’m 7 weeks PP tomorrow and have had spotting today, I’ve put a pad on and am having some very light reddish/brownish spotting. Any ideas what this could be? I’m exclusively breast feeding

Could be lochia again especially if you’ve over done it, or it could be your period albeit very light. I ebf and had a period at 8 weeks and although light they came every 4 weeks following that.

@HippeePrincess Oh is it possible for it to restart after so long? We did go for a very long and hilly walk with lots of big stairs whilst I had the baby in the carrier. Could this have caused the spotting to start today?

In wood think it’s a period! Mine came back this quickly after each of my kids and I exclusively breastfed all 4!

Would!

@Matilda1981 oh gosh maybe it is my period then! I hoped I had a few more months at least before they would return!! If it is my period, will it affect BF at all?

My bleeding restarted with one of mine after ages and it was after I’d really overdone it.
i found baby to be fussy at the breast just before & at the start of my period with a small drop in supply in the first day or so, it didn’t stop me exclusively breast feeding.

Based on this I'd say its just because you've overdone it. I did something similar, the bleeding lasted for less than 24hrs and it just disappeared again. For me it was about 8 weeks PP when i only had a couple of weeks of bleeding in the first place.
