Postpartum preeclampsia? Mild swelling of feet, traces of protein - 2 weeks PP

Hello everyone,

I gave birth early (35.6) via c-section due to developing preeclampsia quite quickly (went from no protein to ++++ in a day). After monitoring blood pressure while in hospital, 5 nights, my Nifedipine dose was lowered from 30mg x 2 a day to 20mg x 2 a day and I had been on that for the last two weeks.

Today my GP suggested I go down to 10mg x 2 a day as I have been having low readings. However, I did bring up that since last night I noticed some mild swelling of my upper feet and ankles (really mild) and she suggested this could be due to Nifedipine side effects but still recommended checking urine.

My urine came back with small traces of protein, she spoke to the obstetrics team and they were happy to carry on as planned, lowering dosage, and suggested to keep an eye on any of the normal symptoms of preeclampsia.

I am just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? It all seems to be going great with my blood pressure so I don’t understand how there could be even small traces of protein in urine two weeks PP. I guess I’m just scared after everything that happened pre delivery and looking for some reassurance.

Thanks!
