Hi, I’m looking for some support please as a new mum. In the last year I’ve undergone ivf treatment and was lucky that my first round was successful and I now have my beautiful son, Gabriel he’s 6 weeks tomorrow. For the last 6 days I have been feeling what I can only describe as lightheaded and like a motion in my head, like when you get off a boat and still feel like your body is moving. No headaches/pains etc but the lightheaded spells is making me anxious to do anything with my baby as I keep feeling like I’m going to faint. I went the hospital they did blood pressure said it was fine and a pin prick that apparently checks for low iron and that was fine. I then went to the doctors the following day to get a second opinion, he couldn’t figure out what it was, ruled out vertigo and said it could be my hormones. I started bleeding about 4 days ago a little bit of brown and now bright red the last 2 days so assuming this is now my period, same time around I’ve starting feeling this light headedness.

im getting more sleep than I was the first few weeks a broken 6 hours but I’m really happy with that with a newborn & I have a partner who is hands on too but when he goes to work I’m left looking after the baby and I feel like I can’t even stand up to change him properly without going lightheaded.

did anyone have anything similar? I don’t even know if this is my period but assume so as I haven’t bled for 3/4 weeks since the lochia phase.

any advice will be welcomed thank you. X

Hi
with regards to your period I had a similar thing. Stopped bleeding then had what could only really be a period when my baby was 5 weeks. However I told the doctor this at my 6 week check and she said due to me breastfeeding it was unlikely to be my period. She didn’t seem concerned. I googled it and apparently it can be the scan from where the placenta was attached coming away. Nice!

this may seem like an obvious question but are you eating and drinking enough? It’s easy not to with a new born and if your blood sugar is going too low that will cause you to be lightheaded x

My blood glucose would drop just before my period. It might be worth getting some glucose tablets, or just some boiled sweets.

Hey neither doctors or hospital seem interested tbh. I’m bottle feeding and when I look online it says they usually start from 6 weeks so if it is a period I’ve started a few days before which is fine, it’s just this light headedness I can’t deal with.

I will try some glucose tablets. It happens when I’m sitting down, lying down or standing up. X
