This morning, when my baby latched on My left breast I experienced a sudden, excruciating pain. It's shooting from the side, as though it coming from a nerve or a duct and my nipple feels so sore, like it's been chopped off! Breastfeeding has been so smooth for the past few weeks so it took me by surprise. There is no visible damage to the nipple. But baby also fussed when feeding at that breast and pulled off before she was done eating. The last feed on it was fine and baby latched well - she doesn't have any tie issues so I don't know what it can be. Could it be thrush? Another type of infection? It's only affecting one side though. Help!
