I had a c section 2 weeks ago the expected bleeding started immediately and was heavy then slowed after a few days but has not stopped it’s just jut been a heavy flow consistently but still there. My postpartum bleeding seems to have now got heavier after 2 weeks. I have attached a pic of wiping myself and that’s how it looks. Last couple of days I have been able get up more and be abit more mobile maybe this is what is making the bleeding come more and the bright red bleeding? Any advice? Is it suppose to be bright red still the bleeding after 2 weeks does it start to slow down and then start up again for any reason?

See your gp tomorrow, but this can happen to some women. Your body goes mental afterwards.

In my experience- 2 babies.

Lochia has slowed down and sped up again if
*I have been more active
*baby has breastfed more
on and off for 1-2 months.

When I was worried about postpartum bleeding the mw asked “how many pads are you wearing at once and filling?” I was like eh? People have to wear more than one? ( One pad in a few hours.) They were not worried at all.

I wouldn’t really see GP for this personally unless you really want to - are you still seeing midwives- visit soon?

If it’s worrying you though, do ask.
Could easily be a phone call.
😂😂 for my second I had an IM who came for 6 weeks after and I could just text her all weird pictures like this and she’d text back.

@Hibambinos you're right I don’t knowing I’m coming or going haha x

I thought you could bleed for 6 weeks. And it definitely goes up and down, gets worse if you do too much etc.

If you haven't been signed off yet you could ring your midwife if you're worried but as above I was told not to worry unless I was filling a pad within an hour or two.

@Youthinkyoureuniqueyourejustastatistic i have had one pad on for a few hours and it’s not filling a pad just seems to be more if I’m moving around and when I go toilet. I definitely have experienced what you are describing it’s going and coming slowing then starting up again and turning from browner red to then a bright red.
I’m 2 weeks postpartum x

It’s probably because you’ve been more active the past couple of days, but don’t hesitate to visit the GP if it gets considerably worse or smelly (or other signs of infection) :)

As pp said, pain, smell, feeling unwell then see your GP but it sounds utterly normal. Up to 6 weeks is common and it can wax and wane as you get more active.

That all sounds normal to me.
Especially after only 2 weeks.

But as also mentioned if it gets heavier or smelly (and I know lochia had a very distinct smell 🙃) then do seek medical advice.

Mummyme87 · 13/11/2023 20:05

You can bleed for up to 8weeks quite easily, and it will go up and down in that time. That looks like normal loss in your picture.

if it’s not offensive, you don’t have increasing abdominal pain, you’re not passing large clots with gushes of blood then it is likely all fine
