Confirmed gallstones no longer flaring up?? Could I be naturally cured?!

Hi everyone.

rewind to feb 2022, I had my first baby.
I was nearly 16 stone during pregnancy.. I’m 5’5. Fast forward to may 2022, I started having gallstone attacks frequently.
I had a scan, and it was confirmed I have a gallstone that is 14mm big!!
from July 2022, i started eating a no fat/extremely low fat diet as I was sick to death of the pain and scared of coping whilst on my own with a new born baby.
I would still have the occasional attack - just not so often. A normal attack would last anywhere between 30 minutes to a couple of hours..

however I lost just over 5 stone in the space of 4/5 months.. I was terrified I was seriously ill.. I had checks and CT scan but all was fine other than the gallstones.
I guess I lost so much weight due to the low fat diet and me and my long term partner split up which left me broken..

since November 2022, I haven’t had a single gallstone attack (TOUCH WOOD).. the last one I had lasted around 5/6 hrs and my gosh I was in AGONY.
I was throwing up thick sludge, curled up on the sofa in so much pain.. it exhausted me.

since a may this year 2023, I started experimenting a little more with food.. eating stuff with a higher fat content. im still careful.. but as an example I would live off chicken wraps, salad, low fat cereal, toast.. and eat very small portions.. but now I’m eating chocolate biscuits, coffee, I had a Nando’s the other week.. a meal deal?! A kfc (about 28g of fat, 3g saturated fats) but before I was sticking to around 5/6g fat and 1/2g saturated?! Is it possible to build a tolerance? I haven’t attempted alcohol yet but wow I’d love a glass of wine…

im waiting for a date for surgery..! But I don’t want to go ahead with it if somehow I’m cured?! Is it possible they are just dormant and may flare up again? Could I naturally pass a 14mm gallstone?! Surely not.. surely I’d know?! Although the last attack was terrible..

just wanted others experiences please?!

I have 2 gallstones which I have had for at least 10 years. I saw a surgeon recently as I had a scan where they thought they saw another so he did an MRI and there were still just 2. Since I rarely get symptoms and never really attacks (maybe 1 in 10 years) he has said just leave them. I'd rather keep my gallbladder if I can so we will continue to watch and see.

Hello, I know this thread is old but just wondering if you have had any subsequent attacks @Oliviaaaaaaaa and what else you did to help your gallstones? (Any supplements etc?) x
