First period after birth

I had my baby just over 4 weeks ago, I took my first period 3 days ago, it's SO heavy, bright red blood, very heavy flow, my period usually only lasts 3 days and gets lighter by the day, but this looks like it's never going to end or get lighter. Is this expected for your first period after birth? I also have really low iron levels following the birth so this worries me

Yes, my first period at 5 months PP flooded out of me for what seemed like forever. It did stop eventually. I had light periods before baby.
