Pain normal 12 weeks post c section?

I had an emergency c section 12 weeks ago and developed an infection which was treated with antibiotics & bloods now showing that infection has gone but I’m still experiencing quite intense abdominal pain. It’s mainly on the right hand side & middle and feels like a mix of stitch and burning but definitely not like period cramps. It’s so intense I’m doubled over in pain and unable to talk and painkillers don’t really help. Is this normal at this stage or should I push for a scan (my uterus was still higher than expected on a scan I had after birth but this was never followed up by the hospital)?

I would push to get this checked. At 12 weeks post Partum my c section site didn’t bother me really. At times there’s a twinge of pain or it might feel a little itchy if I have any wastebands sitting on it but I definitely wasn’t doubled over in pain.

Please get this checked out!

Sorry it’s not the scar area that hurts, more like mid abdominal - about where the appendix is but I’m pretty sure it’s not that!

ah okay, I’d definitely make an appointment with a gp to get checked over. Not normal to be doubled over in pain and it might not be related to the c section.

Ok will do! Have anyone also had persistently bruised underboob? Not sure if it’s my ribs or tissue but it’s been permanently tender since birth 12 weeks ago!

Hi, I know this is an older thread but just wondering whether this ever got resolved? I’m going through something similar at the moment and scans haven’t shown anything. TIA

The internal ultrasound showed my bladder isn’t emptying properly - still waiting to be seen for this - but I don’t think it was related to the pain as it’s much milder now and only happens once or twice a month. My best guess is scar tissue/maybe some adhesions but it seems to have resolved by itself, hopefully the same will be true for you x

Thank you - I’m glad the pain has improved for you. I’m wondering if mine is partly muscular recovery from the section as it seems to get worse when I’ve done any heavy lifting or exercise and resolves sometimes if I sit or lie differently. I’m booked in for physio so hope that does the trick. Hope you get your appointment for your bladder soon. Thanks for replying x
