C-Section periods/bleeding along with infection

Hi,
I had my elective c section for DS2 on 14 July and on day 10 of pp I noticed some discharge and foul smell on the incision site. Been to triage and GP multiple times and on multiple antibiotics for more than 4 weeks. It just started healing. It's now a lot better but my bleeding haven't stopped yet even after 6 weeks.

It's not heavy to soak pads but it's bright red bleeding gushing out every few hours. It stops for few hours and then starts again. I have had some period like cramps as well sometimes. Not sure when it will stop. Anyone had bleeding for more than 6weeks. I m really worried.

This happened to me after my section in March. I bled for 7 weeks, and 2 weeks of that were "gushing" bleeding. I'd literally flood my clothes. On one of the occasions I bled all over the floor in a supermarket 😭 I presented to A&E who referred me to gyane, who said it was normal. A swab was taken which came back normal.

Sorry just wanted to add that this is my 3rd baby. After my second, I bled continuously for 11 weeks.

I had similar and eventually got given some norethisterone which induced a period. This stopped it. I would possible be asking for a scan to check no bits of placenta are left before that though.

I had weeks of bleeding with my last c-section, I think it stopped eventually about 7/8 weeks then my period arrived! 🙈 I’ve just had another csection and can’t quite believe it but I bled for the first two days and it completely stopped. I was expecting it to restart but it hasn’t! I think each time it can obviously be so so different and depends who has done it and how much/little you do after it. Hopefully it will stop soon

I hope it stops soon by the time I go for my 8th week appointment. It was meant to be between 6-8 weeks and our GP decided to club with DS's immunisations.

If it doesn't stop then may be I will push for the scan. Cos I read on another thread about having fluid collection. Hope its nothing and stops by itself as already the infection has put me through a lot.

Hi @Mamalistens - how did you get on? I am 2.5 weeks postpartum after a third section and although I had stopped bleeding about 6 days ago, yesterday it all started again with bright red blood and some smal clots this evening too. I’m panicking as I had an awful time with my second section and I don’t want a repeat!

Hi there what was the outcome of this? Currently surfing mumdnet for reassurance. I’m 11 days post c section and bleeding stopped two days ago but has restarted heavily today
