When did your period return after birth and BF?

Hi, just wondering when your period usually returns after birth if you're breastfeeding (with a bit of weaning)? My daughter is 7 months, we have been a bit hit and miss with weaning, she's eating bits of solids most days, still fully breastfeeding (no formula). She does sleep through the night. I had some light pink spotting today. With my first two I don't remember getting my periods back until after breastfeeding stopped completely.

Mine returned just 6 weeks after giving birth and I was still exclusively breastfeeding. I was gutted.

SweetAndSourChick3n · 18/08/2023 18:10

Around 6 months each time, while still EBF

Givemepickles · 18/08/2023 18:12

@Watto1 same with me! I got it on the day of my 6 week check with GP. I thought I was the only one 😆

DogsAndBirds · 18/08/2023 19:44

Mines just come back 10months PP. (EBF too)

RedToothBrush · 18/08/2023 19:45

Not before he was 2years old!

avocadotofu · 18/08/2023 19:55

Mine came back after about 2 years.

Bout 6months with my first. Breastfed then formula fed at 3 months. 8 months with my second who was fully breastfed until 6 months and thereafter along with food.

ButterflyBitch · 18/08/2023 20:02

aargh sorry 4 months with my first. But I bled after birth for about 3 months so not that great.

WeWereInParis · 18/08/2023 20:04

11 months, when I was still breastfeeding.

applesandmares · 18/08/2023 20:06

9 weeks PP while exclusively breastfeeding!

fartfacenotfatface · 18/08/2023 20:09

DC1 - 5 months (but was sleeping 8+ hours through the night by 14 weeks)

DC2 - 8 months (didn't sleep longer than 5 hours in one go until they were five FUCKING YEARS OLD).

Pollywoddles · 18/08/2023 20:11

17 months ebf and still no sign of it.

Thank you so much everyone! Always reassuring to know nothing is exactly "normal" - thank you!

Around 16 months postpartum. But I'm on the pill and don't usually get periods (so I'm baffled as to why they've started now after all these years on the pill with no bleeding!). I'm still breastfeeding my 19 month old too.

IvanTheDragon · 19/08/2023 21:53

My friend had a baby almost exactly a year before I did, and we both got our periods within a couple of days - six months after birth for me, eighteen months for her. It was during the pandemic and we hadn't even seen each other to sync up, and I don't think you can sync up over the phone... I believe it can be related to how many uninterrupted hours you go between feeds overnight, so better sleep can mean periods more likely to return.

8 weeks, and he never slept. Went away with pop so I took that from 6 weeks the next time. So about 9 months in the end.
