6 weeks postnatal check

My DD is now 8 weeks old and we still haven't had an appointment from the doctors for our 6 week postnatal check. I've called them every week from when she turned 5 weeks and they just keep telling me they don't have any clinics available and to wait for a letter in the post! I said to the receptionist this morning - so it's not necessarily a 6 week check, it could happen at 10 weeks, 12 weeks.... she said yes unfortunately.
Is this normal?! It's more for her than me because I know they have to have some tests done to make sure everything is ok.

It can't be done less than 6 weeks but longer is fine. As long as she has her imms on time.

I never had one with DD1 because it was put off for aaaaages, then lockdown happened when she was 12 weeks ish.

Im now 5 weeks PP with DD2 and bothering them weekly about it like you.

It’s shit.

It's shocking! My health visitor said it could happen at the same time as her 8 week jabs (which are next Tuesday) so I asked my doctors about this and they said it has to be two separate appointments.
Why on earth is it called a 6 week postnatal check when it doesn't even happen at 6 weeks?!

I’m now 8 weeks post. I had a phone call for my 6 week post natal checkup (not really a check up but just a few questions).

My DS has his vaccinations on Wednesday when he is 9.5weeks old. He didn’t have a 6week checkup with the doctor. The health visitor came around when he was 6 weeks and weighed him and measured his length.

I was 19 weeks pp when I had mine in March. And that was post c-section. I know it isn't ideal waiting so long, but unless you've any concerns, I wouldn't be too worried about waiting. In which case, speak to your HV or GP. Certainly this time round, my HV has been brilliant and asked about me and my MH every time she's been in. With my first DC I got a 3 minute phonecall in around 8 weeks, but that was during Covid in 2020.

Thanks all. I had a c section so it would be nice to just make sure everything is ok and I want her to have her physical examination as well.
I just think it's bad, you get told by the midwife and HV that there's a 6 week check but the GP doesn't seem to be bothered about it.

There's such an inconsistency across the country I think! I was told it's a 6-8w check, my GP do it on the same day as 8w vax as 2 separate back-to-back appointments. I had no problems booking ours for 8w on the nose when it rang up about it at 5w pp.
