C section infection?

I’m two weeks post section and everything has been going well, but I’ve noticed today a red patch of skin underneath part of my wound. It’s also sorer there. No big pain (not enough for painkillers), no smell and no oozing.

Could this be an infection or just chafing?

I have a big overhang so it’s not getting much air, going to try and air it more.

I have requested a doc appt and sent photos but could be 3-5 days until I hear back.

Midwife said it was fine on Friday but redness has appeared since then.

I had this and thought I was making a fuss about nothing but it turned out to be 2 infections so definitely follow up with your midwife and ask for it to be swabbed. You know your own body best.

I had small (maybe a few inches) areas of redness with both my sections but they healed - I washed the scar area a few times a day, let it air dry and then placing a clean panty liner soft side against the scar and attached to big lady pants and it healed fine. The constant sitting feeding was making it all get a bit moist in the area - sorry TMI! If you’re worried though, I’m sure GP or health visitor will have a look. If it’s oozy or you feel unwell then defo get somebody to look at it.

@Misslizzie96 good point I have the HV round tomorrow so I can check with them! I definitely feel like it’s not getting enough air so need to try and do that more (hard with a newborn and toddler) and will try the pantry liner trick, thanks!
