Third degree tears

I had one with my LO born a couple of days ago and was stitched up in theatre. On antibiotics to stop infection and lactulose.

However now when I have to go toilet I have to go straight away, and have no control and it's just constant diahrea! Is this normal or could it be too much lactulose?

If you had a third degree tear how long did it take to improve for you?

Too much lactulose. I had to constantly alter the dosage to get a soft but not too soft poo 😂

I had a 3b tear back in 2020. In terms of healing I started to feel more normal at around the four week mark ☺️

Congrats on your baby! I remember how the early days with the tear felt but I promise it won't last forever and every day is one day closer to normality.

Congratulations on your LO 💐

It’ll be a at least a couple of weeks before things settle “down there”. The lactulose is keeping everything soft and making sure there is no pressure on your stitches while they heal so you need to keep taking it a long as the docs/midwife says.
It was 3 weeks before I left the house to go anywhere other than hospital so focus on your baby, look after yourself and don’t rush to start getting out and about.
Ask about post natal women’s health physio - mine was amazing, she broke down the scar tissue, taught me how to do pelvic floor exercises properly.
DH and I were back in the sack after 8 weeks- your body is good at healing itself!

Thanks both! I know it's still early days, but not very pleasant!

@TheBirdintheCave yeah I think maybe too much lactulose so will cut down a bit and hopefully it'll help 🤞. Currently on 15ml twice a day so I guess quite a bit!

I’m interested to see how you are now OP? Just going through the same thing.
