I had my baby 15 weeks ago and since then I have felt so overwhelmed. I try to ask my husband for help and I get answers like ah my backs sore, I'm so tired or i need a smoke. I have tell him that I need a break and to take the baby but as soon as she crys he hands her back to me. Its driving such a wedge between us as a couple, its making me resent him as all we talk about now is the baby, money and his work. I have more of a conversation with his mother who is highly involved which is also very overpowering at times. Is this normal how can I make things more normal.

Honestly, may not be a popular opinion however im nearly 21 weeks pregnant with my first and once our son is born if i ever had to repeatedly ask my gf to help me with our child, i would tell her its over!

After asking the first 2-3 times i would give a stern warning that regardless of her (his in your case) current state, i need help and if she is not willing to help, then i will only ask once or twice more before fully ending things so either fix up or pack her (his) things up ready to be leaving!

I wouldn't really worry about then having to parent alone because by the sounds of it, thats what you are already doing and in all fairness, pregnancy isnt easy and neither is childbirth so if anyone should need a break or be complaining about aches and pains… Its you! If anyone should be getting support, its you. You didn’t impregnate yourself and i assume didnt go through 9 months with the agreement to parent alone so he either steps up of moves out!

Just the fact that he's smoking with a new baby would put me off.
