Hello, congratulations on your baby!!! I have no advice but I am currently going through this. My baby is 4 weeks old. I have had 2 infections, 2 lots of antibiotics and I'm pretty sure I have a new infection! I'm so sick of this! I hope you feel better soon. Its so hard looking after a baby after c section especially with an infection! Xx

Are you at home or still in hospital? I think you need to ask to be seen by the Surgical team and, if your antibiotics aren't helping, ask for an opinion from Microbiology.

Is the wound red? If so, draw around the area of redness and monitor whether it gets worse.

It'll take a few days for the antibiotics to start working. Keep an eye out for spreading erythema and / or spikes in your temperature. If you're worried that it's getting worse, head to A&E.

Congratulations on your baby.
You’ve just got antibiotics today- so give them a day or two to start working.
Did they take a swab to send off to the lab ?
Try a warm bath with added salt in it- old fashioned, but it helps.
How is your temperature ?

Congrats on your baby OP.

I had a c section 3.5 weeks ago. After two weeks, one side of my wound opened up and gushed with foul smelling fluid. In the days leading up to this, I felt unwell with fever and chills.

My wound opened up slightly on one side, just one stitch came away believe it or not. But it became infected.

I had to go back into hospital and have IV antibiotics, CT scans, numerous blood tests etc. after 4 days in hospital on IV, I was discharged to complete the remaining course of antibiotics at home (tablet form). I finished the course this week and feel brand new. My wound has healed and is no longer leaking fluid and I no longer feel unwell.

My advice would be take the antibiotics as instructed but any sign of feeling unwell, fever, chills anything you know isn't the norm, please get seen to as soon as you can.

Wishing you all the best

I had this with my first. Had to go back in to hospital with the baby after two weeks and get iv antibiotics for the weekend. I just rolled with it because I didn't know any better and my brain was mush!
Second baby my wound reopened and I had antibiotics - bit scary but they kicked in really quickly.

Third baby I was given a vacuum dressing which I wasn't allowed to take off - the public health nurse checked it for me and it was amazing. See if that's a possibility now but definitely if you have a further c
Section ask for that.

Better today not as sore just taking it easy as I can it's so hard with a new born to just sit and "rest" but it's not as sore and I'm back to gp on Monday to get it dressed again so hopefully they will tell me it's healing and not getting worse 🤦‍♀️

i was in the same position as you 2 weeks ago! 3 round of antibiotics still hadn’t cleared it but went back to GP who said they where going to treat it like any other wound which was to literally re dress it using a dressing that has some silver in it so it soaks it up where it had opened a bit and boom a week later completely cleared and opening has closed. You can buy the silver dressing online.
