Hi all

DS2 is currently 11 days old. I had a c section with him, my second one.

Whilst I appreciate I still have weeks of recovery to go, by large I feel better each day. I wake up in the morning much more able and mobile, although still trying to take it as easy as I can with a 3 year old too.

But one thing I'm noticing is that by the middle of the afternoon, say between 3-5pm, I get a sudden lull in energy levels. I start to ache, I get uncontrollable chills, so much so my teeth start shattering. But eventually, it passes.

I mentioned this to the health visitor this morning and she thinks it may be related to being low in iron (I was on iron tablets at the end of my pregnancy but no mention of having to continue when I was discharged from hospital).

The tiredness I expect, I'm EBF and of course this takes its toll on the body too. But it's the shivers and the chills that are bothering me the most. Earlier on, I had warm PJ's on, fluffy socks, a fleece blanket, a hot water bottle and the electric fire on and still couldn't warm up.

The weird thing is that I feel okay the majority of the day.

I have read online mixed things. On one hand this could be signs of infection and I need to be seen to, but on the other hand it could just be hormonal changes and my body responding.

Anybody else experience similar? Did it just pass?
I don't remember having this with my first.

I had a section last April and my god, the chills were horrific! I think it took a good month to pass too. I didn't have an infection so assume it was just tiredness or hormones, but get yourself checked if you're worried at all. Congratulations!

@OdeToBarney thank you! 😊

I'm so reassured to hear somebody else has experienced the same thing. I honestly don't remember the chills from my first section.
It really is a horrible, horrible feeling. I'm just thankful that it passes and doesn't linger all day but would love for it to stop. It's bad enough trying to recover from a section but to then have other symptoms and issues on the back of it just seems unfair!!!
