Hi everyone, does anyone have any skin issues that have gone crazy since giving birth. Since about 8 weeks PP my usually well managed eczema has gone crazy and my skin is super sensitive.

Thanks

I got Psorisis on my knees in the months after giving birth. I thought I was stuck with it but it cleared up quite quickly. I hope yours does too.

Yes I had a hideous skin reaction after giving birth each time! Covered head to toe in hives / livid splodges which previously had only been occasional and v localised. GP said it was a reaction to the hormones that encourage milk production. Gave me antihisthemines that were safe with bf-ing and it cleared up.
Mine wasn’t excema but I just wanted to share my experience to show that hormone changes can dramatically show up on your skin, and the gp may have seen this before and know how to help.
Really sorry you’re suffering with this - it’s rotten having skin problems in addition to all the usual post partum physical and mental chaos.

Thanks both. :)

@vincettenoir How long did it take to clear up?

@Breadandbutterandjam Really helpful to know, thanks. I’ve also had hives before and it was terrible. How long did you need to take the antihistamines?

Had to take the antihisthemines for about a week as I recall. Just a quick course to knock it on the head. Then I went back to normal - just getting random hives occasionally. Interestingly though as I’ve moved away from the breastfeeding years towards the menopause, my hives outbreaks have completely disappeared! So I’m certain (as much as an unqualified non medic can be) hormones play a role in skin even beyond acne etc. Could stress also play a part? I guess it’s all bound up together in a way.
Anyway I hope you get some relief soon! X

(It was particularly galling that my being all spotty coincided with the babies going through that baby acne phase. We looked like a right medieval family!)

I had it for only a couple of months before it cleared up just from using E45.

@Breadandbutterandjam Yes I do think stress can also play a part in skin issues. I’ve had flare ups before at very stressful times. Hoping to see a Derm soon. Thanks :)
