Looking for any kind of reassurance..
context..I have a ten month old and exclusively breastfed until 8 months, cut right back on feeding by 9 months as want to start ttc and period returned with a month - it was painful with lots of nausea and cramping but bleeding normal for me lasting 7 days in all. Next and most recent period was 10 days ‘late’ but i had covid and that may have played a part in delaying things, but much lighter cramping this time but still some nausea (liken it to pregnancy nausea) - this time bleeding seemed to last a bit longer 7/8 days and would say sightly heavier. I do have a random pinchy twinge in my left ovary area every so often, even when I’m not on my period. I understand this is totally normal for periods to be a bit all over the place. As I’m ttc opks told me I ovulated later at day 30 but luteal phase 10 days. I am still letting my daughter ‘breastfeed’ in the morning and in the night but there’s Barely any milk left as my supply has dwindled to practically nothing - I’m just a dummy for her as we cosleep so she’s probably getting a tsp out of each boob at a time.
So, my husband and I had sex on Thursday night, and afterwards when I wiped there was pinky cervical mucous. The last day of my period was Monday/Tuesday and I hadn’t seen any of this pinky/brown discharge on Wednesday.
I went to the docs Friday as I was worried and he said basically don’t worry unless the spotting/bleeding carries on for 5+ days in which case come back and they will send for an ultrasound to check all is Okay. He has arranged for the nurse to swab me for a bacterial infection but I don’t think it is that. I had my last smear Jan 21’ and he said it’s not necessary to repeat that yet.
this hasn’t happened before, where I’ve had sex and it’s triggered the end of a period to almost restart. Now the cm goes between pink or brown discharge when I wipe. But there’s no real bleeding- not even a tsp all day, just a small stain on knickers after a day but that’s all. Just like my period was on Monday before it stopped.
can I attribute the random bleeding triggered by sex to my periods still being all over the place and hormones? Obviously I have to wait to see if the bleeding stops until I know for sure but it’s a horrible wait so really wanting some reassurance.
