I delivered via elective c-section about 8 weeks ago. The bleeding was heavy in the first 2 days, and then it became medium. It became lighter in week 5, and stopped in week 6. So far so good.
But then I got 3 days of period-like bleeding after 5 days of no bleeding. That was about two weeks ago. After two weeks of no bleeding at all, suddenly I got period-like bleeding again 2 days ago. Now it's day 3 and I'm pretty worried.
I've been to the post-natal check last week and mentioned about the first bleeding the week before, but my ob-gyn said that it was normal for the bleeding to come back, or it might be my first period. He checked my uterus with the ultrasound, and said everything looked perfect.
I called yesterday, but the doctor's assistant thought that I should observe first before making another appointment. She thought it might be my period, and I shouldn't worry as long as I don't have any pain or fever. When I mentioned that I seemed to already had the first period only two weeks before, she said that it's common for the first periods to be irregular (is this true?).
Now I'm waiting for the bleeding to stop, because if this really is my period, then the bleeding should stop soon, as my period usually only lasted 3 days. I'm afraid that this is not my period and something more sinister.
By the way, I don't exclusively breastfeeding. I pumped four times a day, but never got much milk, and completed them with formula.
Did you have any similar experience? I would love to hear some reassurances, if possible. Thank you!
