Bath after a c section

I'm 4 weeks post partum (today) and had to have a c section and I was wondering when I can have a bath?

I really do miss having a bath and just need an hour to myself 😂

I’m 16 weeks and only had my first bath last week 😂 I was told by the gp to wait until 6 weeks to let the scar settle and then once I’d had a bath I should dry the area fully. I’m sure you’ll be okay to have a bath now but im sure I read something about no bubble bath, just water.

6 weeks apparently

I think I received the okay at 10 days, but my scar healed exceptionally quickly (at day 3 my midwife commented that it looked at least two weeks healed).
Hope you enjoy your first bath!

Put some salt in the bath to keep your wound clean and dry it properly after

Blimey, people are told to wait that long? I was in hosp for a few days after section and the midwife helped me into the bath after 2 or 3 days. And put Johnson’s baby bath in it!

I waited 12 weeks as my scar kept weeping and I wasn’t able to lift myself out.

I was told to wait 6 weeks, it's really until your scar heals. When the stitches dissolve you can bath, before then there's a chance of infection so best to avoid.

I know exactly how your feeling, I was just dying for a bath. Needed me time and a relaxing soak with all th body pain

Disgruntledpelicanlady · 07/08/2022 02:16

I was told I could bath as soon as I got home!

old school but the problem is with water in the vagina, spreading infection from there to the enlarged womb.

Three weeks for me, but my wound had healed by then and the stitches had dissolved.
