Weight gain after stopping BF

Hi, first post so apologies if I don't use the correct abbreviations! My son is 13 m old and having a overnight and evening feed - he eats normal food the rest of the time. I am planning to stop completely but was wondering if it's normal to gain weight after stopping - does anyone have any experience with this?

Some BG - my starting weight was 61kg and I went up to 68 kg at delivery. During my pregnancy I continued my interval training 6 days/week until delivery but suffered from hyperemesis and so couldn't eat much. Postpartum I continued working out much the same and eating healthy (I do have a sweet tooth though!). I returned to work at 6 months at which point I reduced my pumping to 2-3x/day. I am definitely less hungry but I work fairly long hours and the lack of sleep makes me crave sugar. Thanks in advance!

I’d gained lots of weight unfortunately… went from 65kg to 75 … so far I haven’t managed to shed it. I tried intermittent fasting and walking lots… so I’m afraid cannot help you with advise on losing weight.

There was a paper recently published which looked at time restricted eating which is a form of intermittent fasting + low calorie diet vs. Low calorie diet alone and there was no significant difference in weight loss between the groups I.e. it's the calorie deficit which makes a difference rather than the intermittent fasting! I know a lot of health coaches and dieticians rave about it but what it really comes down to is the calorie consumption. Sorry if you already know all this

I definitely did.

Was 57kg pre-pregnancy and by 6 months post partum had dropped to 47kg, which I maintained throughout BF until DS stopped completely at around 18 months. I wasn't careful about what I ate at all and didn't do any exercise whatsoever, apart from walking.

Since then I've slowly regained back up to 60kgs, which is where I seem to have levelled out. In fairness, when I look back at pictures I looked quite unwell at my lightest, so I'm happy to be back where I am now.

I didn't gain any weight. Has your lifestyle changed in anyway other than reduced breastfeeding? I've noticed a lot of people say they can't loose weight after having a child but their lifestyle isn't what it was. I've always walked everywhere and carried that on when I had kids, which usually meant carrying or pushing them whereas a lot of mum's just drive rather than walking for 10 minutes. If you're as active as you were before and eating the same you should return to your normal weight.

Hi, no my lifestyle is pretty similar in terms of exercise and diet. I don't drive except to work and nursery because public transport would involve 2 buses and take about 50 minutes during rush hour vs. 20 minutes driving
