DD is now 5 months old.
We had a bit of a bad recovery and I continued bleeding for 9 weeks due to retained products.
My 'period' returned a couple of weeks after the post birth bleeding stopped.
It lasted a week and was super heavy which is very unusual for me.
I did expect it to be different though so wasnt worried.

Just over a month on i have my second period.
Its now been happening for just over 2 weeks.
Week 1 was heavy then tapered to a more normal flow and to spotting for the last couple of days.
But its been over 2 weeks.
My periods would normally be 3-4 days max.

How long did it take everyone to get back to your normal cycle?
Did you have weird bleeds like this or should I speak to the GP?

@Mumma1994 if they are that bad it's worth asking the GP to check everything is ok and considering the Mirena as it can stop or minimise bleeding.

they are not painful, the really heavy bleeding lasts for around 24 hours, I would prefer not to be on hormonal birth control, happy to ride it out abit longer and see if it eases before birth control. Just interested in what other peoples experiences have been

It's still early days and it can take a while for them to settle and find their new normal. If you're worried talk to your gp or HV. Mine did last over the usual 5 days in the first few months but so went back to normal.

@Mumma1994 to be honest, things didnt really improve.
My 'periods' basically kept happening every other week. Were really heavy and wiped me out.
I went to the GP and because of my previous retained products she sent me for another scan and bloods.
Scan showed one of my ovaries was cystic and i had a very large area in my uterus that had scar tissue. GP skimmed over all of this and though and didnt come up with a plan to investigate or treat.
Bloods unsurprisingly showed i was very anaemic so have been on iron tablets and B12 injections.
They shoved me on the mini pill to stop the bleeding. Which to be fair it has.
But im suffering with severe migraines and cystic acne after starting it.
Awaiting another GP appointment.
