Postpartum Anemic / Anemia

I gave birth to my beautiful daughter on mothers day. 🌸

I lost just under a liter of blood on delivery ia foreceps.

Everyday since i have felt so weak, especially when walking around / standing up.
I can feel my heart beating faster.
Trying to go to sleep is also difficult as I experience light headedness, heart palpitations.

I also think i have developed a lot of anxiety from this and it’s hard to know what is a symptom of what!

My iron level was 88 and gone to 95 which is good and they have booked me in for an iron transfusion later hoping this makes me feel allt better.

On top of this i had covid whilst giving birth and only just getting over!

Has anyone else had experience of anemia postpartum?

I just want to feel better :(

I had a blood transfusion 3 days after a bad birth as I kept passing out. I did feel a lot better after that.

Some of what you're describing could be down to covid as well though. I had it recently and it's taken about 6 weeks to get over the exhaustion. I can't imagine what it would be like giving birth with it. Hope you feel better soon!

Yes I had this, it was awful. Same blood loss as you. I was given a course of iron tablets and told that would fix it with no follow up..I got better but my daughter is nearly 2 and I still get periods where I feel like this but not as bad as post birth. I had my iron levels checked and they were fine, GP wouldn't investigate further. If you're having a transfusion hopefully that'll fix it, and quicker than tablets. I have Internet diagnosed myself as having POTS 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for coming back to me guys.

Glad you recovered @roseopose , it is awful isn’t it. Just feel so vulnerable and unable to just do norma things easily!

@Seeline you’re right, it may well could be as well. I still have a couple of cold symptoms.

Hopefully this iron transfusion will benefit me

Feeling a bit better since I last posted but still feel soo tired , I guess a mixture of anemia and nightfeeds!

Just want to feel myself more and be able to enjoy these days with my new baby
More 😞

I’ve got to have a blood test in a couple of weeks time to see what my levels are.
