Postpartum bleeding

Hi. So tomorrow I’ll be two weeks postpartum and I’m still bleeding quite heavy, mainly every time I go to the toilet I’m having to wipe a lot. Went to hospital during week and they took swabs and said would let me know if any infections came back but haven’t heard so hoping they are clear. Hospital didn’t seem too bothered but I’m just wondering is it normal to still be bleeding?
Every time I go to the toilet there’s like blood dangling out of me if that makes sense (sorry tmi) but I’m not soaking a pad in less than an hour

It's normal to bleed for up to 6 weeks after having a baby.

You're not soaking through maternity pads quickly and you haven't mentioned any clots.

Sounds normal

@cdba88 thanks for answering.

Can I just check are clots like solid ? They wouldn’t be the stringy jelly stuff that comes out when I go to toilet Confused sorry sounds disgusting

Sounds entirely normal to me! I bled for weeks after my last baby and although there was no clots there was plenty of aforementioned stringy bits x

Sounds fairly normal. Your body has been through a lot! The blood with likely turn clear over the next week or two. With my 3 DCs I typically bled for 6-8 weeks, but it would be more intermittent towards the end.

Stay hydrated, eat well, rest as much as possible, and make sure you aren’t soaking through pads in less than two hours. If the bleeding is like a heavy period, it’s totally normal. If it’s much more than that or you suddenly feel unwell, then get checked out.

Thanks everyone for your replies I have now passed a clot, not too big so getting concerned again, are clots normal at this point aswell ?

Yes still normal as long as they aren’t much larger than a coin. You sound very concerned though. If instinctively you think something is wrong, I’d recommend still going to your family doctor or calling you health visitor to get checked out.

It sounds normal, but do seek medical advice if you're concerned. It's not unusual to worry about this, lots of women aren't aware that it's very normal to bleed for around six weeks after giving birth.

Thanks everyone, clot wasn’t bigger than a coin and at night I barely bleed just during the day when moving about. Will just keep an eye on it. Just needed reassurance as I’m the worst for worrying and hate blood haha

Any bigger than a 50 pence piece isn't normal and is worth getting checked out over. Smaller than that is normal.

Well wishes op x
