I'm just wondering if anyone else has trouble controlling wind postpartum?
Forceps birth 9 weeks ago, I've been doing my kegals several times a day, every day. No bladder/bowel continence issues except for being unable to hold in farts if needed. It's really starting to get me down.
Any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated

Hello! I’ve been struggling with this too. Now almost 12 weeks pp and it is improving so hoping it was a short-term thing. Don’t remember it with my first.

I had this, it will get better.

I once read that charcoal biscuits help with wind but not sure where you get them. When I had a c section I was told to get peppermint oil or something similar to avoid a build up of wind .

It’s called flatal incontinence, I heard it on Woman’s Hour when I was having it after my first was born. I think the severity and how quickly it clears up varies from person to person but it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Hopefully yours will clear up in time but if not, do see your dr and don’t suffer in silence.

Thanks for your replies. I've searched flatal incontinence and have lots more info. Looking forward to it improving!

Mine did improve, though because of lockdown etc I kind of stopped caring because I was just at home. But then when I went back into work and farted super loudly at the front of a lecture I realised it hadn’t improved as much as I thought! Fingers crossed yours is on the mend soon. I think the post natal body takes up to a year for everything to tighten up again properly so don’t panic if it’s taking a while. Good luck!
