Hello
Just wondering if anyone has had GD more than once? And if they was diagnosed with type 2 ?

Hi @motherknowsbest1, I've had GD twice and have not been diagnosed with type 2.

As I understand it, you are at higher risk of developing type 2 if you've had GD, but it's not a given. And if you have had GD you should have an annual hba1c blood test which will mean diabetes or pre-diabetes is found and you can make changes to diet, lifestyle etc if needed...

And breastfeeding for as long as possible (if you are able) is meant to be really good for reducing risk of type 2 later down the line, for mum and baby I've been told!

I’ve had GD twice and don’t have t2 (yet anyway!) I’m 41 and of south Asian descent which increases my risk of developing it even more. Baby is almost 10 weeks old so I’m going to get my butt in gear and start exercising properly again and eating healthily to try and stave it off.
